Nothing Will Go Away Until It Teaches Us What We Need To Know

Running away from my problems used to be my favorite coping mechanism.

I can still fall prey to this old bad habit; I’ll hope people who bother me will disappear, or I will leave situations when I’m uncomfortable.  However, every time I do this the same people pop back up, and the same situations manifest in a different way… over and over again.

It’s a fact.

I could write about endless examples, but there’s one I have in mind which was so bitterly uncomfortable that I’m still surprised I got through it.  When I had a difficult roommate, I obviously thought the solution was to move.  To run away.  Despite receiving the silent treatment for weeks, I didn’t leave- and get this:

I was kind.

I still said “excuse me” when we would pass each other in the hallway, and I still tried to be considerate despite her obvious distaste for me.  Although I really had no idea what I had done wrong, I didn’t cower or run away- but I did later learn she had been secretly drinking.

It wasn’t even me that was the problem.

Old Kristin would have run away to avoid the feelings of rejection, discomfort, and anger- but New Kristin dealt with the situation, stuck to her guns, and now has a much better living situation because she stuck with it.

Completing things you started can be difficult- especially for someone like me who hates to be uncomfortable.  If you were to ask me in an interview today if I am a “team player,” I would probably stop lying and tell them I work best independently.  The truth is, I’m not a team player- I’m one of those kids who got frustrated in school and did the entire project themselves.  As a control freak and type-A person, I kept trying to do everything myself, over and over again, and do it MY way.

But those bad roommates will keep coming along, and so will team assignments.  It’s up to you to choose how to handle them today.

Maybe I do work best independently, and I look forward to the day I don’t have roommates anymore.  Nevertheless, as long as I remain teachable and willing to put down my ego and learn to live life differently than I used to, I’ll be just fine.

11/11/18: A Powerful Day Of Manifestation

Did you know 11/11/18 is one of the most powerful days for manifestation?

2018 is an 11 year (2 + 0 + 1 + 8 = 11), which holds the energy of creation, spiritual enlightenment, and authentic expression. With three 11’s in the date, the energy is amplified, being three times as powerful.

Even the actual shape of the number 11 represents a gateway; if you notice, you’ll see how 11 looks like two pillars. This gateway is a direct portal between divine inspiration and grounded manifestation.

Do you ever wonder why you continually receive the same ideas over and over, but haven’t acted on them? Perhaps you see all the signs, have repeating thoughts, or hear messages from others reminding you of these ideas. For me, my own passion for helping others through writing has manifested over the years, but I continue to wonder how to take it further. What is the universe telling me? Even more importantly, how do I act on it to bring my ideas to life?

I have big goals and dreams, and I know you do too.

11/11 is the time to stop, meditate, and ask for guidance.

Think about what your heart truly desires. What signs keep leading you in that direction? What actions can you take now to bring your ideas to life?

For 11/11, there are many steps you can take to manifest your divine inspiration into reality.

First, clear your energy. You can do this through meditation, smudging (I recommend white sage), lighting incense, or clearing your aura with crystals. Clear Quartz is a powerful crystal for clearing work as well as amplifying the energy of your own spirit and the other crystals in your collection.

Next, find a quiet space to write down your dreams and goals. Focus on what you do want, not the things you don’t. Whether you write these goals down or create a vision board, your creative efforts will be recognized by the universe and the spirit guides who help lead you on the right path.

Now, ask for guidance. Meditation is a powerful way to let your guides know your intentions. I try and meditate for at least a half hour every day- sometimes longer. By centering my mind and spirit, I am able to clear the outside noise and connect with my higher, authentic self- the self I am meant to be.

It’s common to be confused about what your heart actually desires when society can sway you in many different directions. Meditation assists in reaching into your soul, not media messages or what someone else’s opinion is.

This 11/11, tap into what your soul’s calling is, and visualize the future you wish to manifest. Your thoughts are powerful, and so is your ability to create a life you love. ✨

Focus on What You DO Want

Over the past couple of years I have carefully thought about my priorities, goals, and values. While I’ve cleared away the things that no longer serve me, I’ve made one major mistake without even realizing it:

I’ve thought too much about the things I don’t want.

Instead of simply visualizing the things I do want, I’ve equally focused on what I don’t want my life to look like.

Examples:

  • I don’t want a conventional life
  • I’m not looking for a relationship
  • I don’t want to have children
  • I don’t want to work a “business job”
  • I don’t want my life to revolve around money

Although these things are good for self awareness, I have focused on how I don’t want my life to look instead of how I do.

It’s important to be honest with ourselves- but once we do, we can let those thoughts go.

Instead, I can think:

  • I want to live a life of inner freedom
  • I am open to a relationship when the time is right
  • I will be happy living a life independently while empowering and inspiring others
  • I will focus on my creative endeavors
  • I am grateful for all that I have

Although these messages are essentially the same, it’s opening my life to abundance, not the “don’t wants.” The Universe gets confused when we say “don’t.” Instead, it’s picking up our keywords. The universe is hearing “corporate,” “relationship,” and “conventional,” not the “don’t” part- just like Google would if we were to do an online search.

As you think, speak, and write, remember this little lesson. You’ll be surprised how many times a day you’re sending mixed signals that are blocking what you do want- so be mindful of those thoughts.

I promise, you will see a difference. 💞
