How Living With a High Vibration Changes Your Life and Daily Interactions

Meet Boz! Pandas symbolize peace, harmony and friendship- this little bear is a wonderful reminder to stop and remember to be kind to yourself as well as those around you- even if low vibes try and stand in your way.

It’s so interesting to see how living with a high vibration can change your everyday encounters with the people around you.

Case in point, at my last job (a stern law office with many unhappy people), my happy-go-lucky personality and friendly demeanor was, well, uncomfortable for others.  It took me a month or two to realize this, but then after watching an episode of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” I realized I probably had to tone it down a notch (does anyone know what episode I’m talking about?  So good).

Nevertheless, I tried.  I tried to “keep my head down,” stay quiet, and focus on work I had no interest in. It was nearly impossible though, because as a creative type and lightworker, I wanted to engage, connect, and make the office more pleasant.  Alas, I was required to take orders from young attorneys who didn’t understand social media and type up documents I wasn’t trained on.

After three and a half months of this, I knew this legal job would be the last; as I stepped into the person I have learned I am, I needed to find a more suitable environment.

Perhaps this job would have worked well for me when I arrived in Boston in December 2016. I was broken yet optimistic, eager to learn yet still finding her footing. The structure of a more corporate environment could have shaped me into a completely different person than I am today- but fortunately, I was surrounded by healing, artistic, loving people who taught me the joys of meditation, kindness, and self-love.

That brings me to today- over a year and a half after I first arrived in Boston to start a new life.  I have come a long way since that chilly December morning when I landed at Logan Airport, and my self-discovery journey will continue every day for the rest of my life.

In my first Mindful in Style YouTube video, I chatted about how carrying a high vibration can affect you (and others) in even a fun, energetic environment where you feel of service and (think you) fit in.  Something small, yet still stung, happened today- but I was able to quickly put it into perspective.

Perhaps I could have taken their comments the wrong way, or perhaps others actually were being cruel- but as I left my new job today, I heard people making fun of me when they thought I had left.

Had I not used a goofy word, “weekend-ish,” been so upbeat, or flat out said “this job is fun,” perhaps they wouldn’t have teased me.  Maybe it didn’t matter what I did.  Maybe they’re going through their own issues. Despite the reasons, it does not matter.

I don’t have to let the outside world determine my internal condition.

As I looked at Boz the bear when I came home today, I smiled and sat on my bed.  I remembered how far I have come, and how petty frustration or sensitivity is so unimportant in my life today.  I can finally say goodbye to the defensive, snappy person with a guard up and a chip on her shoulder and live with grace, not aggression.

Hopefully those people enjoy their weekend as much as I do, and maybe, just maybe, they’ll use the word “weekend-ish” one day, too.

4 Ways You Are Lowering Your Vibration

light

“In a world full of darkness, be the light.”

A few months ago I wrote about ways to raise your vibration, which is the frequency of your energy.  The higher your vibration, the better your mind, body, and spirit will feel.  A high vibration will result in a happier life, more peace, clarity, joy, and love.

When your vibration is high, it’s much easier to manifest the life you want and take control of your destiny.

But what if you’re lowering your vibration without even knowing it?  The lower your vibration is, the less connected you are to your higher self.  This results in negativity, selfishness, poor health, anxiety, and many other unfavorable factors.  As I look back at my own past experiences, I realize how many things I once thought were fun and harmless were actually lowering my energy, hurting my health, and making me miserable.  A low vibration is also damaging to your immune system, causing anxiety, depression, pain, illness, and disease.

Addictions

Instead of relieving our stress, addictions actually lower our vibration and block our connection to our higher selves.  For a moment, these addictions give us a synthetic sense of being in the present moment, when in reality, they’re pushing us further away from consciousness.  Pharmaceuticals, alcohol, shopping, sex, and gambling are all examples of common addictions that give us fake or temporary highs.

For example, alcohol is called a “spirit” for a reason- it numbs our psychic senses and often turns us to the dark side.  Rooted from the Arabic “al-kuhl,” meaning “body eating spirit,” alcohol can do much more bad than good.  I started and stopped time and time again over a six year period, only to realize life is much better with a clear mind (not to mention body and spirit!).  Sure, it can be extremely uncomfortable to experience all of your emotions, but with a strong spiritual foundation, these feelings are much easier to handle.

Electronics and Media

We can’t deny that we’re all reliant on our phones.  Now, add laptops, iPads, Kindles, and television to the mix- how often are we completely tech-free?  Although these devices have become a part of our everyday lives, they can be extremely damaging to our sleep cycles, mental health, eyes, and muscles.  The energy of prolonged electronic use can not be healthy to our bodies, yet the affects of the content we’re consuming is an entirely different story.

The media is flooded with tragedy, fear mongering, negativity, and materialism- yet it’s prominent in our society.  When did our culture, as a whole, forget the beauty of walking in nature, reading a physical book, or working on a craft?  For me, it’s important to have a healthy balance.  I suggest going a day or two without the media to see how you feel.

Junk Food and Processed Foods

It can be a challenge to avoid quick meals during our busy lives.  While living in New York I often forgot to eat, so I’d pick up a piece of pizza, hot dog, or pretzel at a street stand.  Oh, and who doesn’t love street meat?!  Delicious, sure- but definitely not supportive to my health or energy level.  I’m still very guilty of this, but I’ve been trying to plan better, buy healthy snacks, and eat meals consisting of mostly veggies.

Have you noticed how much better you feel when your diet is rich with fruits and vegetables?  Eating raw or vegan is a wonderful way to increase your health and your vibration, but it’s not for everyone.  As much as you can avoid junk and processed foods, the better off you will be.

Materialism

When we look at physical things to satisfy us, we’re disconnecting from the spiritual world.  Sure, this works for many people- but when is enough enough?  A wise man once said, “mo money, mo problems,” and he was right. Cutting back on “things” has made me so much happier, less stressed, and more content with what I do have.  Today, I look to spirituality, not spending, when I am feeling lost.

I have written a lot about my experience with completely changing my life back in 2016 when I left New York City.  From fashion blogger to frugal, I had no idea that it would be the start of one of my greatest passions- minimalism.  Although I had more clothes than I could account for, a big paycheck, and a fancy zip code, I was constantly depressed.  I thought a boyfriend, a job, a new handbag, or a drink would fix things- but they never did.

I had to find my higher self first.

The Spiritual Side of Money

Money used to be a scary thing to me.  Money is necessary for all of us to live, which can be very intimidating.  There’s good news, though: there are endless ways to earn it.  Endless!

Just the other week I was thinking, “how am I going to supplement my income when school is out for holiday?”  This was a fear-based thought.  Suddenly, I acknowledged it and re-framed my thinking.  I looked online, got some advice from family and friends, then decided to take action.  I was clear about what I was looking for, which hasn’t always been the case in the past.  I used to scramble, hustle, and take the first thing that came along- no wonder I wasn’t content in some of the positions I took.

Once I looked at my holiday week as an opportunity, not one, but two options presented themselves.  I also received emails out of nowhere from people asking about marketing work (which I have retired for writing and education).

Then, it clicked.  money isn’t anything to be afraid of.  Money is energy.

The more you put in, the more you get out- but I didn’t understand what that meant in the past.  I used to think hard work meant long hours, climbing your way to the top, office politics, networking, etc.  No.  You must work with your heart, not out of fear- fear of not enough.  You also need to work smarter, not harder.  Yes, success does come from hard work and a lot of time, but when you’re doing what you love, it’s effortless.  I found myself writing from 8AM until 2 in the morning on Saturday!  I only got up to go get food; yet it was the most pleasant day I’ve had in a while.

Opportunities begin to align when you stay true to yourself and listen to what soul your soul is saying- not the outside world.

We all need to pay bills, but there are endless ways you can do something you actually enjoy if you follow your gut and ignore your ego.  Remember that you’re of service to the world, and if you are co-creating with source / a higher power, your light will shine through and you will be rewarded.

The rewards may not always be monetary- at least not right away- but rest assured that you’ll always be taken care of.  Each day I feel rewarded after leaving school or working on my writing, but it’s on an emotional level.  These are things I would do for free! (but thankfully I don’t have to)

I have also been channeling Archangel Gabriel, the angel of communication, to help support my work.  Earlier this year I began following Melanie Beckler of Ask-Angels.com, where I have been learning a lot on connecting and communicating with our guides.  Archangel Gabriel looks over the creatives and messengers- the writers, teachers, artists, and journalists.  It’s interesting to see how angels can help us in our daily lives, including our work!

Additionally, I love using my crystals to help support my work, too.  I wear Citrine to connect with Archangel Gabriel and carry Red Jasper for grounding, Rose Quartz to keep me aligned with love, and Green Jade to attract abundance!

Remember, it’s all in your vibration.  Keep thinking positive- your energy will support you along the way.
