Encouraging Young People To Be Authentic and Mentally Strong

Mental strength is not something we are taught in school. We’re advised to get good grades, earn accolades, attend a good college, and find a suitable career upon graduation. Most graduates don’t even have the opportunity to work in the field they studied, let alone pursue a degree in a subject they’re passionate about.

Students listen to their parents, societal expectations, and those who came before them. “Go into finance,” “work your way to the top,” and “lean in” are the messages we hear as we try our best to make a living for ourselves. Our best doesn’t seem good enough, leaving many anxious, depressed, and doubtful.

Who is actually encouraged to be authentic? At what point in our lives are we advised to be mentally strong?

Success comes in many forms, but to me, true success is learning to embody being true to ourselves, not what society tells us we “should” be.

We’re given hearts, souls, and dreams for a reason; why would we sell them to corporate America?

I’m currently 33 years old and have lived in Metro Detroit, San Francisco, Austin, New York City, and Boston as a young professional. I searched near and far to find happiness and success, yet I kept running from myself because I could never seem to find my place.

I didn’t stop to explore the big question of “what is fulfillment?” until I left New York in July of 2016. I purged my fashion blogger / PR girl wardrobe, abandoned my Astoria apartment, and sent boxes home to Michigan. I spent that summer living simply at a family lake house, finally learning the real meaning of “mindfulness.”

Instead of racing to the top, I began to dig deep.

Although each profession has a purpose, it’s the ego and greed attached to certain people or positions that irks me. Earning a big paycheck doesn’t make a person strong; what would they do without it? What type of person are they without the title attached to their name?

It’s easy to hide behind a career, wealth, or a facade; but the true accomplishment is knowing who you are on the inside. It takes mental strength to believe in one’s self; yet when you realize you are already enough, the world becomes much brighter, and much more hopeful.

11/11/18: A Powerful Day Of Manifestation

Did you know 11/11/18 is one of the most powerful days for manifestation?

2018 is an 11 year (2 + 0 + 1 + 8 = 11), which holds the energy of creation, spiritual enlightenment, and authentic expression. With three 11’s in the date, the energy is amplified, being three times as powerful.

Even the actual shape of the number 11 represents a gateway; if you notice, you’ll see how 11 looks like two pillars. This gateway is a direct portal between divine inspiration and grounded manifestation.

Do you ever wonder why you continually receive the same ideas over and over, but haven’t acted on them? Perhaps you see all the signs, have repeating thoughts, or hear messages from others reminding you of these ideas. For me, my own passion for helping others through writing has manifested over the years, but I continue to wonder how to take it further. What is the universe telling me? Even more importantly, how do I act on it to bring my ideas to life?

I have big goals and dreams, and I know you do too.

11/11 is the time to stop, meditate, and ask for guidance.

Think about what your heart truly desires. What signs keep leading you in that direction? What actions can you take now to bring your ideas to life?

For 11/11, there are many steps you can take to manifest your divine inspiration into reality.

First, clear your energy. You can do this through meditation, smudging (I recommend white sage), lighting incense, or clearing your aura with crystals. Clear Quartz is a powerful crystal for clearing work as well as amplifying the energy of your own spirit and the other crystals in your collection.

Next, find a quiet space to write down your dreams and goals. Focus on what you do want, not the things you don’t. Whether you write these goals down or create a vision board, your creative efforts will be recognized by the universe and the spirit guides who help lead you on the right path.

Now, ask for guidance. Meditation is a powerful way to let your guides know your intentions. I try and meditate for at least a half hour every day- sometimes longer. By centering my mind and spirit, I am able to clear the outside noise and connect with my higher, authentic self- the self I am meant to be.

It’s common to be confused about what your heart actually desires when society can sway you in many different directions. Meditation assists in reaching into your soul, not media messages or what someone else’s opinion is.

This 11/11, tap into what your soul’s calling is, and visualize the future you wish to manifest. Your thoughts are powerful, and so is your ability to create a life you love. ✨

Growth: How Intuition and Awakening Cause Big Changes

It’s hard to explain why my life has changed so much so many different times these past 10 years. Part of it has to do with being a free spirited young adult, yet today it finally clicked.

As I have changed, and as my spiritual awakening has been happening, the things around me have changed right along with it.

I happen to be a highly intuitive and clairvoyant person, so my gut always tells me or sabotages a situation I know isn’t right. As my consciousness grows and as I stop mixing the messages from society and the outside world, I catch myself. I question big life factors. And, abruptly, I make a change. Although most people don’t understand this or may call my changes erratic, to me they make perfect sense in the end.

From changes such as calling off a wedding and moving to San Francisco from my home state (I had never lived anywhere else at that point) to quitting jobs or moving apartments, change is no stranger to me.

With each change, I move closer to my purpose.

With each fall, I emerge even stronger.

I learn, I feel, and I grow. I listen to my heart center today and do the best I can without letting the outside world sway me any longer.

For years, I listened too much to others- not from the divine guidance from source, which manifests in my life as intuition and synchronicities.

I’m happy to finally realize this for myself, but it sure has been difficult to explain to others- but I know I don’t have to today.

and, when you listen to your intuition, sometimes even a little magic happens.
