Mindful Moments in the City Lights

The Public Garden is such a magical place in Boston. I spent my last evening of the long weekend strolling the park and taking in the beautiful city lights glistening on the pond. With my journal in hand, I sat on a bench and wrote out my intentions for the week.

Preparing for the days ahead by centering myself has been so helpful in staying grounded through stressful times.

Whenever I’m feeling uneasy, I just go back to my intentions and remember all the beauty around me.

Living with intention is key to a purposeful life- so don’t forget to take in those mindful moments of sitting in the park or enjoying the city lights. ✨

Connecting With Intention

“Connectors have an uplifting effect when they come into contact with people who are living in lower energy levels. Their peacefulness causes others to feel calm and assured, and they radiate an energy of serenity and peace. They’re not interested in winning arguments or accumulating allies. Rather than trying to persuade you to think like they do, they’re convincing through the energy they exude. People feel loved by connectors, because they’re merged with the Source of all life, which is love.” -Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, The Power of Intention

I’ve written before how our thoughts create our reality. Some skeptics may try and say this isn’t true; “then why do bad things manifest in my life?” they ask. My answer is simple:

“It’s not about what happens to you; it’s how you react to it.”

Everything in life is a lesson. From the best moments to the painful ones, each opportunity we experience provides a lesson for us to grow from. Often times, people don’t realize how their perception or thoughts limit their true potential. I’m not just talking about achieving great accomplishments or goals- it can be as simple as setting out to have a good day.

I spent this past Thanksgiving away from my family in Michigan, as I have many other years before. Some people may find this sad, but I intended to have a fulfilling day, having gratitude for all of the gifts in my life. My Thanksgiving was spent with friends, enjoying the crisp air, and eating Chinese food back at the house. Was this a traditional holiday? Of course not. But my thoughts shaped my reality.

As I walked through Harvard Yard with a friend yesterday, I felt a sense of gratitude and peace. I’ve come a long way since arriving in Boston two years ago; yet, upon my move to the city, my intentions were set. I intended on creating my own life here, finding a home, and making a living. I did it. Had I questioned myself, doubted what I could achieve, or worried about controlling the outcome, I would have blocked the abundance that came my way.

As you connect with intention and set out for your life to divinely unfold, anxiety slips away, synchronicities appear, and a new peace is discovered.

Intentions are simply unseen energies that lie within each of us- and you have the power to watch them manifest into your reality.

Strong and Secure- Setting Intentions

Each moon cycle I set an intention. On occasion I hope for something tangible, such as securing a new job or accomplishment, and other times I aim to let something go.

As the moon phases pass, I try to release what no longer serves, focus on improving myself, and live by the intentions I set.

This past New Moon, my intention was strength.

Strength means a lot of things to me. It can mean being assertive and confident, resilient through life’s challenges, or living with grace and grit. Strength has helped me pick up and move across the country, walk into interviews with ease, and hold my head high when life tried to pull me down.

I used to try and be a chameleon in life, seeking to fit in so I wouldn’t feel uncomfortable. Not anymore. I have learned how standing in my truth has helped me get into alignment with the right people, opportunities, but most importantly, my own self.

It’s okay to stand out in the crowd… and it’s a beautiful thing to be different. Instead of lowering my head or watering myself down, my intention is to be strong and secure- no matter what life brings my way.
