I started my week a little differently this morning- instead of hopping in the shower to get ready for the day, I decided to take a moment to relax and reflect. I typically start my days with a little reading, stretching and coffee, but this week I had a realization:
When you’re feeling good, keep doing the things that make you feel good.
After a weekend of recharging, spring cleaning and organizing for the week, I woke up feeling great. This is dangerous! It’s so common for me to live on a natural high after I meditate, read or have a good day, only to fall back into a slump when I don’t consistently follow my mindfulness practices. Instead of pushing through and carrying on with my morning, I stopped to read and journal- in order to keep the good vibes, you must continue to do the work!
I have been reading Gabrielle Bernstein’s Miracles Now as a daily guidebook to follow. Starting today, I decided to journal on each lesson / tool that Gabby teaches (adapted from A Course in Miracles), today’s being “Happiness is a choice I make.” In addition to each lesson, I am writing down my thoughts on the topic, 5 gratitudes and then, once I get home, journal a few miracles that happened throughout the day.
Typically I like to take a daily inventory each evening, so my “Monday Miracles” for today will list the little blessings, gratitudes or special moments that happened thanks to my morning lesson. If I start my day with intention, I am opening up to a higher awareness.
I will continue to remember that “happiness is a choice I make” throughout my day- I can’t wait to see how it changes my perception, and how it will improve my spiritual growth in days to come.
