Leaving the Past Behind to Open Up to the Future

There’s a fine balance of letting go of the past yet holding on to the experiences that shaped your way of thinking. However, often times your preconceived notions will limit the types of opportunities, relationships and communication that comes your way.

I’ve been trying to maintain a balance between letting go of old thoughts, negative behaviors and patterns while holding onto lessons that made me who I am today- independent, adventurous, hard to hold down… but is that who I will always be? Am I limiting myself based on who I was?

Re-creating a life in Boston has provided an experience for me to start fresh and focus on my career, healthy relationships and personal growth, yet I still have allowed experiences from my past to limit my full potential. Perhaps it’s a growing pain, so I continue to remind myself that my past does not determine my future.

Every day provides a new opportunity for unlimited potential- in life, work and love.

My roommate and I have similar values and views on spirituality, so I always enjoy chatting with her about topics consisting of miscommunication, human psychology and the Universe. Just the other night she brought home a stack of Goddess cards, so we were excited to see which card she would draw for me. Appropriately, the card she drew was Manifestation.

“You have manifested new opportunities and abundance. Know that you can experience these gifts right now!”

“Your hoped for aspirations are on their way to you. They may arrive in a different fashion than you expected, but the rewards that you truly desire – such as feelings of peace, security, and happiness – are manifested exactly as you requested. Ask your angels to help you have faith in your ability to manifest. With this faith, you and God can do anything! This is the process by which all thoughts transform into tangible form. First, they begin as an idea, born of Divine sources. Then the idea meets with a feeling. If the feeling is loving and nurturing, the idea and the feeling create the embryo of the manifestation. You nourish your newborn idea by believing in it and by following the step by step guidance that God and the angels give to you through your feelings, dreams and visions.”

We both looked at each other in awe; it was the perfect reminder that I need to have faith. Although the Universe may not be working on my watch, it’s right here working with me.

Perhaps experiences from the past may have contributed to what I think I want for the future, but I have to remember that everything happens for a reason, and each day I am new. Today, I won’t allow the past to define my future- so I’ll let my guides show me the way, and I will be happy to follow along.
